If you are NEW to Pilates and want to begin training privately or in a group, you must have an Initial Screening and demonstrate an understanding of the Principles of Pilates and safe operation of the Reformer. This is an important part of your success with Pilates.
The Initial Screening is an assessment of your posture, medical history, and your body's strengths and weaknesses. This will determine your safety and suitability for Pilates personal training or classes.
If you have previously done Mat Pilates or STOTT PILATES™ Equipment Classes, you are welcome to test-out a class with us and see if it meets your needs. While you are in the class, the instructor will be evaluating your form and will make recommendations to you about the class that may suit you best.
Please download our health forms and bring them with you at the time of your Initial Screening appointment.
We suggest that women wear a comfortable T-shirt layered over a sports bra or support tank top, allowing observation of your spine and upper body posture. As for pants, please wear bicycle shorts, long stretch pants or leggings with an elastic waist, or shorts that are not too short or revealing. We suggest that men wear a T-shirt and bicycle or gym shorts.
Your attire should allow you to move with comfort and ease.
Pilates can be performed barefoot or with socks, but shoes are not usually required unless specifically requested by your instructor. Please refrain from wearing jewelry or watches.
